Whenever a person goes around places, people tend to stare at him because of his figure which makes him to be conscious of it. Not being able to fit his old clothes that he loves to wear and not being able to find dates are some reasons that make someone regret how big he has become. Hence, losing weight would be the best solution for a person to be less conscious of how others look at him. However, to lose weight is not as simple as it is being said but it is not impossible. To lose weight requires psychological and physical preparation of the person’s mind and body for it to be effective.
A person should first be psychologically prepared of what would bound to happen during this period. He must set an achievable goal for him to have a target that is possible to reach within his time limit (Quirk, 2010). If his aim is too high, he might lose his confidence to achieve the goal. This will then be the cause of discontinuing the daily routine he has made. To continue doing the ways to lose weight, the person needs to motivate himself. He must find an inspiration to motivate himself enough to reach his goal. Next, he should make a list of what he should eat and what food he should avoid. To determine the things that should be eaten gives less burden to the person for him to remember what he should not eat.
A person loses more weight effectively if he is physically fit. He must exercise everyday to burn calories. Then, he must simultaneously eat a balanced or healthy diet. If he eats more than his usual servings, then his exercises would be useless since burning calories is more difficult than gaining one. To follow it up, the person would be able to have a small appetite if he drinks lots of water before meal time (Dicks, 2004).
One might not lose weight if he is not psychologically and physically prepared. He must set a goal that could make him motivate himself to exercise and to eat a balanced diet. One factor is nothing without the other. If he just sets goals, nothing will happen since there are no actions involved for him to achieve them. In short, both preparations are required for a person to lose weight effectively.
